Instructors: Dan Estep, Ph.D., CAAB and Suzanne Hetts, Ph.D., CAAB
Fears, phobias and anxieties are among the most common behavior problems seen in companion animals. Often these problems go unrecognized or the behaviors are attributed to other anthropomorphic motivations, such as “stubbornness”. Fears and phobias can also contribute to other behavior problems such as aggression, barking and destructiveness. In this webinar, we’ll discuss the components of fear, what motivates or “causes” its expression, how to recognize fear (there are many less obvious signs), how fears develop, and how to prevent, manage and resolve fearful behavior problems. This class will be valuable for any animal professional who deals with fearful animals. Whether you work with animals as a groomer, doggie day care provider, trainer, veterinary professional or behavior consultant, you will regularly encounter fearful animals. Knowing how to recognize subtle signs of fear, how to reduce fearfulness in animals as well as what is involved in resolving more serious fear problems will make your work more effective, more efficient, safer for people and animals and more humane. Any pet professional can benefit from this course.

Here’s what several attendees had to say about this course and our webinars overall :
“[What I liked best was]… the practical suggestions and considerations to use in planning a program to use with fearful dogs. I will be more thorough in developing a hierarchy for systematic desensitization”. Karen S.
“I need to “digest” the information. But it will certainly help me to understand techniques and why or why not to use them.” Eileen P.
“This is absolutely my favorite way to learn as this media has two options, e.g. real time and replays to meet scheduling conflicts. It also gives the attendee the opportunity to digest information before the next class which is so much better than attending an all day seminar as you can only absorb so much info. The discussion of actual case studies is priceless. Instructors are excellent and very accommodating. Thanks again for a wonderful learning experience. I am looking forward to many more.” Rita P.
“Suzanne and Dan are great presenters. I learned more from this webinar than I have from several books and DVD’s. It is almost like being in the room with them- minus the expensive plane ticket. I highly recommend the Animal Behavior Associates webinars to anyone who needs to earn continuing education units to maintain their certifications, or anyone interested in their pet’s behavior. “ Crystal S.
